Affordable Family Health Insurance

There has been much conversation both among individuals and in the news on the difficulties of finding affordable family health insurance coverage. Over the past decade, insurance prices have soared with rising medical costs making it difficult for many people to afford sufficient insurance coverage. This has left many parents in the position of not having the kind of coverage they need to properly care for their children or themselves.

The strain on the economy that has led to massive layoffs has left many people without company sponsored health insurance. Even as the government struggles to put a plan in place, many, many Americans are going without health insurance. As a result, they are not seeking the medical treatment they need. This is a growing problem and more and more families do not have proper health insurance.

Where once a self-employed family of four could find health insurance for $400 a month, a similar policy now is as much as $1,000 or more a month with a substantial deductible. Out of pocket expenses have just become too much and many, many families are going without.

Affordable family health insurance is something that should be available to all Americans. We are a wealthy country with enough to go around. Making preventative medical care available to everyone at an affordable cost can prevent more serious problems from developing that will cost the individual even more down the road.

However, when a family doesn’t have health insurance, they put off going to the doctor or seeking treatment as long as they possibly can. This means the problem gets worse and the cure more expensive.

No one wants to be sick and not seek medical treatment when they know they should. No one wants to do without proper medical care. They only do so because they have no way of paying the very high prices that are now being charged.

Doctor’s office visits were once affordable to the average person.  However, they have risen radically over the years. No longer is a $50 doctor visit even an option. Now, to those without insurance, a doctor’s visit is $150 or more, and that is for a 15-minute visit as limits are placed on the amount of time a doctor can spend with a patient.

If given an affordable option, most individuals and families would choose to have health insurance that covered their medical needs sufficiently. The rising cost of drugs makes them unaffordable to many who do not have a means of paying for them. If you are an individual who is unemployed, self-employed, just out of college, retired among others, medical costs are currently unaffordable without assistance.

Affordable family health insurance is something most everyone wants to have. Not to have to live in fear of the next medical crisis in the family is something every parent wants. They don’t want to worry that they cannot properly care for their child should something happen to them. They want to be able to seek medical treatment without being concerned that they will face financial ruin by doing so.
